Rodney District for your Farm Stays, Farm Food and Rural Services
The Rodney District is in the North Island of New Zealand and extends from Muriwai to the Hibiscus Coast; south to Helensville. It is the northernmost area of the Greater Auckland area. The Matakana area has been accepted as a Slow Food region. It has a thriving farmers' market, and there are other farmers' markets in the region too. The Matakana/Warkworth area is a beautiful coastal region with calm bays and beaches, excellent swimming and boating opportunities, and offshore islands to visit and explore. It's a great region to visit and close to the city of Auckland too. It's the fastest growing lifestyle region in NZ. The dominant feature of the western side of Rodney is Kaipara Harbour, the largest enclosed harbour in the Southern Hemisphere, with a perimeter of about 3,000 km. The area was once famous for its kauri timber mills. Kumeu, Matakana, and Huapai are becoming well known for their wineries, a number of which provide sampling, cellar-door sales, and restaurants. If you have a farm in the Rodney district of New Zealand that you would like to showcase visit our Farm Forum. You can upload a picture and brag a little. We don't mind! Share a farming story, tell us about your best or worst farm holiday and lots more. There are other individual farming discussion boards to contribute to through this forum, as well as a Craft & Recipes Forum where you can share your favourite recipes and also get some crafting ideas for various arts & crafts.
