As the sun sets over the village of Stanford on the last Friday of every month, the Village Green comes alive.
Fire drums glow, lighting the faces of people gathered around them, some sitting on hay bales and some standing, but most with a glass of fine wine in hand. The crowd grows as people wander past with their dogs or children in prams. All are drawn to the sound of the small town festivities.
Officially, the Stanford Market runs from 6-8pm.
Stanford is blessed to have one of the few remaining town squares, and this is put to good use on these nights, as local farmers peddle their wares, and local cooks and crafts people offer their finest goods for sale.
