This is my first experience with cows calving. I bought two bred dexters last fall and one 5 month old. I'm so happy that I chose dexter's.
Lucky for me these two momma cows have had calves before. She gave birth easily, despite the fact that she was injured last year when being bred and has a permanet limp.
We stayed out of the pasture, watching from about 200 feet, so we would not disturb her.
The next dexter is very large and not yet ready to calve. She looks to be having a baby whale, compared to the crippled cow's size before calving.
I plan to try AI in September. Wish me luck.

We certainly do wish you all the very best of luck with your calves, Sherrie. A great result so far, and here's hoping for a second successful birth.
