Grass silage

I have been interested in the item you have in the article about silage. I didn't know that it could be done on a small scale.

Could regular plastic trash bags be used instead of fertilizer bags?

How long does the fermentation have to progress before the grass silage can be used. I thought that there was danger in using the mixture before it was well fermented.

I have a dozen sheep and use clippings all summer into the fall cut on a daily basis. Silage or haylage will almost make me independant on forage. jmafarm@ comcast.com
