You don't need to be nervous, but you certainly need to make sure that whatever you eat you have identified the plants so that you are sure that you know what you are putting into your mouth.
When you are first starting out in the art of foraging you need to take an experienced forager with you. Not only will you then gain confidence in knowing how to select the plants, but you will also learn so much more than what you will ever read.
It's the same as mushroom hunting. However, once you have been out several times with a guide, you will have the confidence to go out on your own.
Always ask, if in doubt, and if you can't, rather pass on and eat what you know.
