Europe is a continent that is very dear to my heart as it was my first destination of travel as a young woman, and it has never lost its charm. It had so much of an affect on me, particularly Italy that it was there that we decided to buy a farm in Tuscany to change our lifestyle.
You can find more about that on the Tuscan Blog. Italy is a wonderful country and for all of those who have read Frances Mayes' "Under the Tuscan Sun" - yes it is wonderful as you thought it would be, and more so! The people are warm and friendly, the food is to die for and the wine is cheap and plentiful!
England is another favorite destination as this is the birthplace of my husband, and my ancestors. One can wax lyrically about the countryside today just as it was done by poets gone before, like Wordsworth and his ilk.
We will also be bringing you the latest news on where the farmers markets are in the local community of your choice so that when you go on holiday you can choose your farm produce in fruit and vegetables on a weekly basis, just like the locals do. Farms in Europe are mainly small family farms that produce food that is often seen at local farmers' markets at different locations on different days of the week.
Country fairs in Europe are also popular, and make a great day's outing for the family. One such annual country fair that has grown in popularity over the last 14 years, drawing some 35,000 people from even Germany and Britain, takes place on a farm in the Netherlands on the last weekend of every June in Aalten, just 2 hours out of Amsterdam.
With over 300 trade stands, animals for the children to see and pet, lots to buy and with many aspects of country living and farm lifestyles on display, it makes a great family outing for everyone. In 2012 the dates for this country fair will be June 22, 23 and 24. For more details visit this wonderful Farm & Country Fair and see pictures of their last event.
Europe is an interesting continent from
the fact that you don't have to go too far before you are in another
country with another language, food and culture. Come here for your
